WHAT
SHOULD I DO IF MY DREAM IS UNREALISTIC?
First, let me tell you what not to do. Don't just give up on
ever owning recreational property. Even if you can't afford
what would be "ideal", you are blessed if you have the
resources for recreational property of any type! If you have
the resources and the desire to own recreational property,
then "take the bull by the horns" and make it happen.
Consider alternatives to your original goal or contact me to
ask me about alternatives.
Imagine this scenario: An immigrant named Patrick comes from
Ireland in 1976. He is twenty years old. After gaining
citizenship in the Land of Opportunity, one of the
first things he sees is a bright red, brand new Ferrari Testarosa automobile. He instantly falls in love with the
vehicle and vows to own one someday even though he has no
idea of the cost. Skip ahead to 2002 and Patrick, our
immigrant, is now 45 years old. He has been successful in
business and decides it is time to buy a Ferrari. He priced
them in 1995 and figures he finally has enough saved up. So
he goes to the dealership and suffers severe "sticker
shock." He can't even buy half of a brand new Ferrari! So
what should Patrick do? The price of the cars is rising
faster than he can save. Should he just give up and never
own a sports car? Or might he enjoy driving a brand new
Corvette with chrome rims and a manual 6 speed transmission
with a "0 to 60" time of 4.1 seconds?
Our hero (because anyone who pursues their dreams is a hero
in my book) went home and considered his options very
carefully after giving himself one day to be depressed. Then
he shook off his lethargy and reminded himself that he'd not
gotten where he was in life by feeling sorry for himself or
mourning opportunities he'd not been given. He went right
out and ordered a brand new, candy apple red Corvette with a
6 speed transmission, convertible top, and leather interior.
So maybe you can't afford what you originally wanted. Don't
give up! Find an alternative you can enjoy - one of the
secrets to finding recreational property is the ability to
accept reality and compromise. And you can be sure Patrick
is driving around with a smile on his face right now!
I'll be happy to help you find an acceptable alternate
choice, just contact me with your situation. |
